The Standard Char-Meck rules will appy to the tournament. These rules are the only exceptions to be used throughout the Challenge tournament.
All pool games will be one hour, drop-dead, score stays as is (does NOT revert to previous inning)
Home teams will be determined by coin flip for ALL games
All bracket games will be 1:15, finish the inning
Championship games: 8U & 10U - 1:15, finish the inning, 12U - 1:30, finish the inning.
Pool games may end in a tie; bracket games go to international tie-breaker, per regular Char-Meck rules.
Rec season "mercy" rules are in effect for all games, including championship games
Pool play tie-breakers will be applied in the following order: runs against, runs for, head-to-head record, coin flip
Innings pitched in pool play DO apply to bracket play
Innings pitched in rec games DO NOT apply to tournament games, and vice versa
Game balls will be provided at the field
The "must-play" rule is in effect
There will be no subs; all players must be in the batting order
All game play rules match rec play rules exactly, at all levels, except as noted below:
All innings will be kid pitch; there are no all coach-pitch innings. All batters start with a 1-0 count.
Once a walk has been issued to a batter, a coach will pitch a maximum three pitches, per rec rules.
There is no overthrow rule during a play; the defense must stop the runner.
The innings pitched limit is raised to match 10U: 5 innings over two games, on a rolling basis.
